High Intensity Focused Ultrasound is an acoustic ablation technique that precisely focused ultrasound waves in a defined area with a high energy density to destroy fat tissue. Ultrasound wave emission is based on transducer vibration. Alternation of positive and negative electrical voltage on both sides of the transducer results in alternation of transducer thickness (dilatation and contraction) and therefore acoustical pressure in the coupling medium. This acoustical pressure creates tissue movement. The heat is homogeneously distributed along the ultrasound path if the transducer is not focused. 1. How the Cellulite is formed
Cellulite describes the orange Peel or cottage cheese-type dimpling of skin seen most commonly on the thighs and buttocks. To some extent, between 85-95% of post-pubertal females have cellulite. It is prevalent in women of all races but is more common in the white people.
Formation of cellulite is due to the deterioration of the dermal micro-vascular system, leading to excess body fluid retention within the dermal and subcutaneous skin layers. And it is formed with four different phases: firstly, the overlying skin begins to bulge as excess fat is stored in the subcutaneous fat cells. Secondly, the accumulating fatty deposits compress the circulation and create congestion. Thirdly, fat cells begin to organize within fibrous nets to become fatty lobules. And these fatty lobules invade the skin dermis to create more skin dimpling. And at last the orange peel is appeared.
Adipose tissue fat is created by aggregations of fat cells containing stored fat in the form of single droplets of triacylglycerol. Fat tissue is composed of clusters of fat cells ranging in size from small fat cells to large mature fat cells. Typically they have spherical shape. A single fat cell is 95% fat by volume.
